One of the most important objectives of Lekam’s activity is constant development and providing patients with modern generic drugs at reasonable prices. Since its beginnings, the company conducted research in the field of drug form technology and pharmaceutical analytics. In the recent years The research and Development Department has been reorganized. The whole Department has been moved to modern rooms, the number of highly qualified specialist personnel has been increased and a lot has been invested into the newest generation analytical and technological equipment.
At present, the Department occupies the total space of 700 m2. It consists of two basic units – The Department of Research and Development Analytics (RDA) and Research and the
Department of Research and Development Technology (RDT). Both units are located in a modern building designed accordingly to research work conducted therein.
In RDA laboratory there are several dozen highly qualified people, including specialists for patent situation assessment, chemical-pharmaceutical documentation assessment, pre-formulation, development and stability studies. The laboratory is equipped with high class analytical equipment, including HPLC, UPLC devices, newest generation release baths. Systems of thermic analysis, gas chromatograph with HS adapter and many others. The laboratory operates in accordance with GMP requirements.
In RDT laboratory there work specialists for pharmaceutical formulation and technicians. Technological laboratory is located in a special zone meeting the requirements of GMP. In dedicated process rooms oral and inhalation forms are developed. The zone is equipped with modern laboratory, control and measurement devices which enable to design the process and full analysis of obtained data in accordance with Quality by Design conception.
Research and Development Department is directed towards the development of modern generic drugs. However, in order to introduce innovative solutions we conduct research in the field of modern modified release forms, innovative mode of administration, modern packages. We also look for solutions to reduce manufacturing costs of routine production.
Within the scope of funded projects we are working in the area of oncology, cardiology, pulmonology, neurology and many others. Moreover, the Department formulates OTC drugs and dietary supplements.
The Department widely cooperates with national universities, scientific institutions and worldwide experts in the field of pharmacy.
An important element of the Research and Development Department’s activity is also supporting young scientists, organization of student apprenticeships and education of young staff where the best of them can apply for a job in the Department.
